Jiann Eid was born in one of the oldest quarters of Damascus, Syria in the 1960s. In her early years she traveled frequently between Damascus and Aleppo due to her father's occupation. She loved acting and performing from a early age and performed in a fashion show at the Cotton Festival in Aleppo at age 6. Throughout her school years she performed in many stage productions demonstrating her talents as a young actress. She graduated from the Higher Theatrical Arts Institute in Damascus in 1981 with excellence. She then joined the Syrian National Theatre and performed in many stage plays. She's received numerous awards including Best Actress at the 2008 Sophia Film Festival in Bulgaria, the 1999 Cairo Television Festival, and an achievement award at the 2008 Quartaje Theater Festival. She was selected as a distinguished juror in local and pan-Arab festivals. She received the 2009 Al-ataaaward for outstanding contribution to the film, television and theatrical arts.
